One of the more well-informed and pragmatic takes on Kony 2012 I’ve read thus far. The most telling part:

“It would be great to get rid of Kony. He and his forces have left a path of abductions and mass murder in their wake for over 20 years. But let’s get two things straight: 1) Joseph Kony is not in Uganda and hasn’t been for 6 years; 2) the LRA now numbers at most in the hundreds, and while it is still causing immense suffering, it is unclear how millions of well-meaning but misinformed people are going to help deal with the more complicated reality,” Keating writes.

“Yeah. Seems like we all had a phenomenal evening.”
“You know Ron, someone once told me that this is not how grown-ups deal with tough situations. Oh my god, Ron, it was you who told me that. That’s crazy.”

Tom and Ann went 48 hours without breaking up — until he gave her a present to celebrate.

Elegant Simplicity: The Middleman:

The Middleman is one of my favorite shows of all time. It has the good natured humor of shows like Doctor Who and it goes down on my personal list of shows that ended far too prematurely, alongside the likes of Firefly and Arrested Development.

Also, I will watch anything that Natalie Morales (the actress, not the Today Show host) is in.

I dismissed the Galaxy Note right off the bat, but perhaps it does have a use case. I think Samsung did it an injustice by marketing it as a “fourth device” to compliment the smartphone, tablet, and laptop.

I got some hands-on time with the Note yesterday and…kind of liked it. It’s still not clear whether there’s a big market for a phone this humongous. (Let’s face it: If you hold it up to your ear to make a call, you’re going to look silly.)

I couldn’t have said it better myself. “T-Mobile has been an important source of competition among the national carriers, including through innovation and quality enhancements such as the roll-out of the first nationwide high-speed data network,” Acting Assistant Attorney General Sharis A. Pozen said in a statement announcing the DOJ suit to block the deal. “Unless this merger is blocked, competition and innovation will be reduced, and consumers will suffer.”
